What Lawrie Brewster on behalf of British Horror Studio (Hex Studios, Amicus Productions & Fife Creative Studios) would say if he was being honest.

"I was invited to Horror Con Scotland in 2023, an event run by a small company founded by someone who studied film production and wanted to support Scottish film companies. I initially said yes, but then decided I was too important and ignored the organiser’s repeated messages, leaving her on read for months. When she released a press statement without my name (because I wasn’t coming), I threw a tantrum about being left out. She graciously adjusted the statement after we discussed it, and… I still didn’t show up.

Fast forward to 2024: she invited me to Glasgow. I ignored that too.

Now that her event has grown and gained recognition with bigger companies, I suddenly decided it was worth my time - even though I’ve repeatedly claimed I’m 'above events like this' and 'not hawkin’ DVDs at a kiosk.' Without addressing my past behavior, back in December I offered up 'my fine ass' for a panel.

She explained there would be a conflict of interest with another company. Turns out it wasn’t just one - it was multiple companies - and not because of film rivalry, but because I’m, well, an asshole (who likes to bash lots of companies online).

Where I once took months to reply, this time I bombarded her inbox, demanding an immediate response. She told me she was busy, but I didn’t care what she had going on in her life, because I’m the most important thing in the world. When she didn’t reply within 12 hours, I resorted to veiled social media threats of an 'exposé.'

Surprisingly, she wasn’t impressed and told me to shove it - not in those words, but I got the message. Then she blocked me! I could’ve tried being polite or professional, but why would I? I’m Lawrie Brewster - the biggest and best film director in Scotland. Attention comes to me, and I always get my way.

Now - the day after her post about directors that didn’t include me (the best director in Scotland) I’m posting publicly bringing up other things that have nothing to do with me because, well, I could use some attention - and if anyone comments something I don’t like, I’ll just delete it. Actually comments are off now. I’ll only turn them on if you want to post something to support me.”
